Fun photos from our trip to Hilton Head. Me and Charlie in San Francisco on New Years 1990. My favorite. This is Patrick when he received his first skateboard.
That is all I have for Vinny. Please leave her a comment!!!!
I started scrapbooking almost 6 years ago. It all started when Charlie bought me a kit for Christmas. This kit motivated me to organize 19 boxes of loose photos. It also gave me an idea for Patrick's 13th birthday. I would make him a scrapbook. Well, that one scrapbook turned into 6 books. He loved them then and he still loves them. He shows them to his friends and once in a while I will catch him just looking through them. I cringe when I look at the earliest ones. The only tools I had was a few decorative scissors and a brad poker thing.I had no idea what I was doing. I plan on slowly posting photos from all of the kids books. It will take a while for Patrick's. Mitchell and Vinny only have a few books. I no longer scrap chronologically so their books will look a little different. Here is the first year of Patrick's life. Not the first book, just the first year. These are all two page spreads. This is the cover to the first book. Greatest photo of Patrick ever taken. That is it for now. I am sorry for the poor quality of photos. I was too tired to get out the tripod. Thanks for stopping by.
Here are a few of Mitchell's creations.... The brown with green dot thing at the bottom is a heart. The photo is of me and Charlie before we were married and was taken in Newport Beach, California.
The title on this is Pengi which is what Mitchell calls Vinny.
Vinny and Mitchell worked on this together. I call it the people page.
That is it for Mitchell. Thanks for stopping by and please leave him a comment. He would love to hear from you.
Vinny is quickly becoming a very good little scrapbooker. If I could only get her to clean up her mess we would be set. Here are a couple of pages she has made recently. I have more to share later after I take some photos. Mitchell is also catching the bug and I will share a few of his pages later as well. Enjoy and she would love it if you left a comment.
This is a page she made for Mitchell with no help from me at all.
And here is the last one for tonight. Don't forget to leave her a comment!
My sister in law recently lost her only sister. I finally made a card for her weeks after the fact. It is hard to make a card when you are too busy sleeping away the pain from a stupid surgery. So, hopefully she has received the card and I can now share it with you.... This is the front of the card. I did not want to do the usual "Sympathy" card. So, I used the words "Believe", "Laugh", and "Smile". Inside of the card I wrote what I hoped these words would mean to her. This is the inside right page. The other page is my note to her. This is the most wonderful poem called "Reassurance". Since you cannot read it very well I will include it here....
REASSURANCE
Never look down for me
after I leave your sight
Nothing of me is there-for
who can imprison light.
Look for me in the stars-
on a scented night in spring
Nearer to you than your
heart-for space is a human thing.
Look for me in the
rose-the gold in a sunset sky
For love has transfigured
me-the mortal that once was I
Look for me in the
dawn-when the day is new and fair
Now and eternally, call me
and I shall be there.
As you cannot conceive my
freedom from time and space
Why do you think it's
strange that you cannot see my face?
Trust in that inner sense
that you and I hold dear
Of knowing beyond a doubt,
that I am truly here...
I don't know who wrote this beautiful poem. My Grandmother gave it to us when my mother passed away.
Please keep my sister in law in your prayers as she grieves over the loss of her sister.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a groovy weekend. We love you Chrissie!!!
One of the worlds most amazing scrapbooker, founder of Simple Scrapbooks, Stacy Julian is having a challenge that I think is something every woman should try. Even if you don't scrapbook, even if you are a man (my brothers read this blog) you can do this. Here is what is involved. I have copied this from Stacy's blogAltogether Too Happy.
Here’s what I want you to do …
• Snap ten or twelve photos of your life right now. Or find recent photos that you've already taken. • Compile these photos in one of these super-cute Bazzill Mono-Mini albums (keep reading) • Keep or carry this album with you, tucked in your purse or desk drawer for one full year. • Promise to glance through the album every time you stumble upon it or pull it out. • On October 1st, 2009, create a scrapbook page about your experience.
I think you'll find that regardless of what you choose to photograph,
be it nature, your children, your pets, your home, your current
projects --- anything and everything, that life is in flux. We and our
surroundings are constantly changing (even when you don't see it or
believe it) and this little challenge/project is designed to STOP you,
in the throws of your busyness and show you in an instant ALL that have
and can choose to be grateful for -- ALL that is here NOW and very
likely fleeting ...
I have not started mine yet due to my lovely Tysabri Headache. I am going to try to start today. You don't need to use the Bazzil Book that Stacy recommends; you could use any small photo album or journal. I wish I had some to give away but I don't. I am going to show a few photos I copied off of Stacy's blog.
I hope all of you will give this a try. I promise to let you know in a year what Stacy has planned for October 1, 2009.
Let me know if you participate and send me photos of your book. I will post photos of my book as soon as I complete it. Have fun with this and tell everyone you know to give it a try.
As many of you know, Charlie's daughter Megan gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a few weeks ago. I had hoped to finish this book before my surgery, that did not happen. Then it took me much longer to recover than I had expected. Well, I finally finished the book but could not post it until Megan received it since she does read my blog. So, here it is. You can click on the photos to see them better.
This is the cover. I had a lot of fun playing around with Gesso on this. I have never used it before and decided to give it a try. After I put on a couple of thick layers I used a stylus to make some swirls then painted it. The hardest part of this album was coming up with a title. I actually asked a few of my blogging idols, Laura Vegas, Christine Middlecamp, and Susan Weinroth. One of them, I honestly cannot remember, gave me the idea for this title. So, thank you ladies.
On the inside front cover and the inside back cover, I stamped a few different colors randomly then I used a Heidi Swap Mask and walnut ink. All firsts for me. The first page is the prayer Footprints.
The page on the right has an envelope so I hope she uses it to save cards and other mementos.
And the last page has an envelope with journaling papers for each of the family to write their reflections of Catherine's first year.
That is all. Thanks for looking.
That is it for now. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a groovy weekend.
Sunday, August 24th was Beautiful Bo's birthday. She came over on Saturday and spent some time hanging out with Patrick. On Sunday, her parents invited our family to join them for dinner at Fatz, a local and noisy restaurant. I ended up not going, I just don't do well in crowded, noisy places anymore. I dropped the kids off and came home to a quiet house for two hours. Patrick could not figure out what to give Bo for her birthday. He finally asked me on Saturday if I could make her something. I did not have any unfinished frames but I did find this large piece of metal that I received for a class I was supposed to attend but ended up not going to. Since I had already paid, I received the materials. So, I made her a magnet board to put photos or whatever on. I even made some cute magnets. Vinny painted her a square of cork board and Mitchell painted her a picture. I forgot to take photos of the kids presents but I will have Bo send them to me. Here are some photos of the magnet board. The board has a ribbon attached at the top, you might see the two knots, that you use to hang it. I painted a tree and grass and then stamped a few flowers. I cut out leaves and glued those on the tree. I made owl magnets, bird magnets frame magnets and of course a beetle bus magnet. This happens to be her dream car. No wonder she and Patrick get along so well.
A close-up of the tree, some magnets and a couple of photos.
Close-up of the frames, photos and the beetle bus.
This is my new favorite photo of the two love birds. She took this with her self timer on Saturday. There was car between them which I proudly erased with photo shop. Patrick did make her a nice card.
She loved the presents and had a great day. Happy Birthday Beautiful Bo!
I made this album for my Tysabri nurse. She is having her second child, a girl, next week. The album is called "That Thing You Do" and is meant for recording funny things the baby does or says by month. I did not have a complete album so I mixed and matched different sizes. Front Cover Inside of front cover. This is a spot for mom to write her reflections on her pregnancy and the birth. The first page is for statistics; weight, height, etc. 1 month. Each page has a place for a photo and a place for journaling. 2 months. 3 months. 4 months. 5 months. 6 months. 7 months. 8 months. 9 months. 10 months. 11 months. 1 year. Oops, it looks like my "O's" have slipped off.
An extra page. Inside of the back cover. And the back cover with room to journal her reflections on the babies first year.
Most of this album was made with a kit I had laying around for years. Thanks for stopping by.
I just finished my first acrylic scrapbook album. I had planned on using this beautiful 6x6 scalloped album from Rusty Pickle. I even had the edges all painted. After picking my 6x4 photos from Costco, I realized that the photos were too big. So, I added a 8x8 pages from Clear Scraps. I did crop a few photos to put on the 6x6 pages. The photos are from my daughters First Communion photo shoot. The photos were taken in Memory Grove in Salt Lake City. The Photographer was J from In Focus Photography. I was so pleased with how well the photos turned out. She did not enjoy the experience. She got bored very quickly but was a trooper and the photos are simply beautiful. The best part of making this album was the help I received from my daughter. She had amazing ideas and they are evident on every page.
This is a 6x6 pager and below is how it looks within the album.
This is my favorite!
Another favorite!
This is Vinny's best friend Samantha. She came with us for the photo shoot.
I am really happy with how this turned out. Vinny loves it too and that makes me very happy. Thanks for stopping by. More scrappies tomorrow.
