Sorry that this Halloween post is a few days past the fact. There were a couple of important items that I felt needed to be posted first. So, here we go...
Our neighborhood is known for miles around as a great place to trick or treat. One reason is that they close the road so that traffic can only move in one direction. The other reason is that the home owners used to go all out in decorating. Not many do anymore which is sad. That does not stop us! I thought I would be smart and get our decorations up on Sunday. That way they would be up when the news crew came and I would not have to worry about it after my Tysabri on Tuesday. I did not take into account the wind we would experience starting on Monday. The paper and the weather channels failed to mention it as well. By Monday afternoon, 80% of our decorations had blown down. The wind was still strong so I did not see the sense in putting them back up until the wind had stopped. It finally stopped on Friday! Still suffering from my lovely headache, I went about putting the yard back together. I will show some photos in just a minute.
Thursday night was pumpkin carving night. Mitchell, Jessica (Patrick's friend who has never carved a pumpkin before) and I decided to try using a stencil. Vinny drew her design out freehand then cut it out. I found the stencils online, printed them out and then we taped them to the pumpkins and poked holes along the lines with an ice-pick. After we were done with the holes, we spread flour all over the design. The flour went into the holes so we could see where to cut. It worked really well. Patrick did not carve one this year. He gave his pumpkin to Jessica. Can you imagine being 16 and never had the opportunity to carve a pumpkin? Patrick took 100's of photos and I have tried to narrow them down to the best ones.
No, I am not in a Halloween costume. This is what I look like when I am suffering from my Tysabri headache. No one ever said that MS is pretty.
This is Jessica carving her first pumpkin.
Oops! Vinny made a wrong cut and the entire face of her pumpkin fell off.
Charlie and I used match sticks to put it back together. Here is Charlie lighting the ends of the matches so you cannot tell what they are. Vinny was so nervous that her pumpkin would catch on fire.
And here they are! Vinny's is on the top, then Mitchell's, Jessica's and mine. Here are the photos of the house...
Charlie is waiting for Vinny's friend to arrive so they can go trick or treat.
This is Bertha! Vinny attempted to put together a realistic looking skeleton out of very mismatched bones.
Last but not least, here are the kids in their costumes except for Patrick. I bought him a mask and he said he was going to where it when they got to his friends house. I did however get a shot of Jessica.
The Joker aka Mitchell
This is our new neighbor Cole. Is this not the scariest mask you have ever seen?
The Joker and the Scream
Can you guess what Vinny is dressed as? Would it have helped if I had remembered to pop some popcorn to put all over her clothes? She is a movie theater floor without the pop corn.
The day after candy trade. Vinny had a friend, Raven, spend the night so the three of them are in Mitchell's room trading the goods.
It was a great night, not too warm, and not too cold. We had around 100 kids this year, a few less than last year. Can you believe I have not had one piece of candy? After seeing myself on TV I have the motivation I need to stay out of the sugary stuff. That double chin must go.
Thanks for stopping by!
